The Cambridge History Museum aspires to be a gateway to the rich and storied past of our community. Through pictures, videos, testimonials, and other exhibits, we seek to bring to life the people and events that have helped make Cambridge the vibrant, dynamic place that is beloved by so many. In 2021, this page and this project continue to be a work in progress, so please check back on this site often for updates.

Mission Statement

History Revisited

As we pass the one year mark into the historic Covid-19 global pandemic - one that is disproportionately impacting our most historically marginalized communities - The Cambridge Museum of History and Culture shows us how learning from our past is not only crucial for understanding today, but foundational for building a better tomorrow.

Our mission is to meet the City’s urgent need for an accessible, public-facing port where we can share the stories of who we were, who we are, and who we want to be. While a wealth of local history has been archived by organizations across Cambridge, much of it remains hidden from public view. The Cambridge Museum of History and Culture holds our history at the center, anchoring Central Square and the entire network of historical resources in the City. We are a welcoming, way-finding haven in more ways than one: we connect visitors and residents to archival spaces across Cambridge, and we connect our stories of the past to pathways of hope for the future.
